The MacDill AFB Library, co-located with the Education Center, is open to all military personnel (active, reserve, and retired) and dependents with a military ID card. Civilians taking classes or working on the base may also use the library. Anyone outside the MacDill community who desires access to the library should contact us via phone at 813-828-3607, e-mail:, or fax: 813-828-4416.

If there is an available copy at MacDill, you may either visit the base library to check it out in person, or you may reserve a copy of the book by placing it on hold through the above AMC library catalog website. When the book is ready, the library will contact you by phone or email, then you will have 3 business days to stop by the library and pick it up.

  • 28 Oct @ 3:30 pm: Halloween Ghost, Ghoul, Witch & Black Cat Hunt (all ages) - It's almost Halloween and it's an annual tradition to hunt down dozens of ghosts, ghouls, witches & black cats scattered all over the stacks around the Library. The champion will be awarded a mystery prize!
  • 29 Oct @ 3:30 pm: Slime Fest (all ages) Join us for an oozy gooey slime program at the library! Make your very own unique slime and experiment with different ingredients.
  • 4 Nov @ 3:30 pm: Survivor Audition Challenge (ages 7+). Have fun and join us for our library game show to compete before a panel of judges to be on our hypothetical Survivor Show!

  • 21 Nov @ 10:30 am: Scrapbooking Memories Craft (teens & adults). Bring a memory book & your printed pictures and come for some creative camaraderie before the holiday season begins!
  • 26 Nov @ 9 am: Beginning today, for every 5 resources checked out, you will receive a ticket for a chance to win a Mystery Christmas Present from the Library Staff (all ages). Drawings will take place on 24 Dec (do not have to be present to win). Library staff will call all winners.

  • 23 Dec @ 6 pm: Night Before Christmas Storytime (all ages). You are welcome to bring Christmas cookies to share during our special holiday storytime and craft activity.

Hoopla is a digital media service that allows users to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, eBooks, comics, and TV shows to enjoy on their computers, tablets, phones, or TV. With no waiting, users can borrow up to 5 titles per month. These titles can either be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later via the hoopla app (iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, and Roku). PLEASE NOTE: Site does NOT support Internet Explorer (IE).

If you don't already have a library card, visit the MacDill library to register for one and then you can log in to the OverDrive website. To access the site CLICK HERE.
